Follow the guest
Walk through arrival with luggage, waiting for a room, finding a lift and returning after dinner. Consider moments of uncertainty as well as moments of delight. The guest journey is not a single line on a plan; it changes with time, weather, company and the reason for the stay.
Include the service route
Housekeeping, replenishment and maintenance all support the visible experience. Discuss them early with the operator so that the front and back of house do not compete. The most elegant solution may be an unobtrusive door or a short route rather than an additional decorative feature.
Test a room before repeating it
Where the scope allows, review representative details or a mock-up before repeating them across rooms. Check switches, reading light, luggage, charging, cleaning access and comfort. Record the decisions and translate them into the specification so the approved experience survives procurement.
